Ivan Namirrkki

Ivan Namirrkki was born in 1960 and grew up on the northern edge of Arnhm Land. His father Peter Marralwanga taught he and his brother Sameul Namunjdja, to paint, (Marralwanga also taught his nephew John Mawurndjul). Ivan Namirrkki is now a senior Kuninjku painter and sculptor, his work has shifted from an earlier figurative style to a more abstract aesthetic. His is represented is in most major Australian Collections.
In 2006 he was invited to participate in the prestigious Clemenger Prize Exhibition at the National Gallery of Victoria.
His sister Kay Lindjuwanga is also an artist and is married to John Mawurndjul.
